Global warming is a reality at the moment that it was few years ago. There are evidences everywhere showing that the conventional or non-renewable energy resources we have been relying on for ages are being depleted faster than ever. It is a scary scenario, but it is true. As individuals we all have a role to play in making the world a better place to live.

People all over the world are now turning to fuel efficient automobiles in place of heavy automobiles. Most power companies that we rely on for electricity to power our homes are relying on oil as fuel and we know oil is getting depleted by the year. The situation is only getting worse by the time if nothing is done, not just by the governments, but by each one of us as responsible individuals.

Building Solar Panels for our homes can be a solution!

Thank goodness for the new technology of alternative energy systems. Now it is possible to tap into free energy from solar through solar panel systems. We can build homemade solar panels or any of the other alternative power systems; we can reduce the reliance on oil for electricity generation. Even better for you and me is the fact that we will enjoy clean renewable energy; this is great for our environment. Of course the cost of electric bill will be history as well.

Whether you chose to install a readymade solar panel or build a homemade solar panel, the goal of making our world eco-friendly will still be realized. This is only if we assume that installation cost for a readymade solar power system is not an issue. Depending on your energy needs at your home, installing readymade solar panels can run from a few thousand dollars to several thousands.

However, if you are like majority of the ordinary people, homemade solar panel option would be more sensible since it is not as expensive.  Most solar panel installation companies usually charge a lot of money to install enough solar panels for a home. Installing enough solar panels to run an average house – about 3 bedrooms — may require as many as a half dozen to ten panels. To build homemade solar panels at home for an average house would be several times cheaper, just a couple of hundred dollars for a guide and materials.

Do-It-Yourself or DYI solar panels option also gives you the flexibility to design your own solar power system with your future needs in mind. In my opinion homemade solar panel is an inevitable investment worth making. I call it inevitable because with the current trend of energy crisis in the world, we will be forced to make the investment sooner or later. As I mentioned earlier, those of us who can afford readymade solar power systems can easily take that route. So once again, in one way or the other we will all have to face the challenge now or later.

Besides building homemade solar panels, there are other alternative sources of clean energy such as homemade wind generators or magnetic power generators. However, solar panels are the easiest and most convenient for residential homes.
