Solar power as we know is simply energy from the sun. This energy can be converted through photovoltaic technology to produce solar power that can then be used in our homes. In the modern world where non-renewable energy sources have been depleted beyond sustainable level, most people are now resorting to renewable sources of energy.

Among the renewable energy sources, solar energy has proven more successful in terms of making it usable in our homes. Solar energy is tapped through solar cells also known as photovoltaic cells. Many of these solar cells are put together to form a solar panel or photovoltaic panel. Due to recent research in photovoltaic technology, it is now possible to build solar panels at home. This is comes at the time when we are experiencing a lot of power supply crisis.

If you are paying electric bills, you will agree with me that the cost has soared in the last few years. The rise can primarily be attributed to the rise in the cost of the now scarce fuel supply. Most power stations rely on oil to generate sufficient electric power that run our buildings and homes among other power needs. For an average citizen like you and I there are other important costs in life other than power or electricity that needs priority as well.

Homemade solar panels are great source of renewable energy. However, our geographical location will dictate how many homemade solar cells or DIY solar panels we will build. Somebody who lives along the equatorial region will have more solar power from fewer homemade solar panels while a person who resides north or south of the tropics may need more panels to produce the same solar power. This is due to the amount sun and intensity of sunlight received in each region. This probably explains why the solar technology has been in use in African equatorial countries than other parts of the world.

The homemade solar panels guides have made it easier for most people to cut their electricity costs. If you find the right one of these DIY solar panel guides you will be able build a solar panel without any supervision. Of course there are other great sources of alternative energy that can be built at home besides solar power. Wind power generators, for example can be built locally at home given the right guide. This applies to magnetic generators as well.
